Midget in a hazmat

[No, really, there is what looks like a midget in a hazmat suit, with a little note pad in its hands. It stops after several steps, looking around the hub, confused. This...did not look like where they were just three seconds ago. Not even close. Too bright...and...flying rings? The circus? Or...

Also said hazmat suit is covered in smelly gunk, but don't let that deter you.]

((OOC: Check her journal. I have no shame.))

[Having just returned from a wonderful little tour of the replica Robotropolis—quite a lovely little stroll through good memories—Eggman had found himself still lacking any real information about the nature of this Zone.

So that was why he'd hopped back through into the lobby … only to find himself sharing it with what he could only presume to be either a Mobian or Snively underneath the concealing safety suit.]

I think you can take that off.

I love this AU, by the way. Now I want to do something with it myself.

[Princess Sally? For a moment, Robotnik was taken aback, but ever-careful to not let it show on his face. Not that, with the opaque glasses and immense mustache, it would be easy to detect if he did, but having a strong poker face was a good quality.

And she didn't seem to recognize him at that. Such … potential. He grins in a manner that could be called friendly, if a little predatory.]

Yes, well, it seems we've ALL taken a wrong turn.

Yeah, seriously, it's golden.

[He folds his arms behind his back and moves to stand besides her.]

Hahaha, no, I'm afraid it isn't. This is, as strange as it may seem, some sort of alternate dimension.

[He offers one hand to the short girl.]

Dr. Ivo Robotnik, at your service.

[Evergreen, not Acorn, hmm? He puts on his friendliest tones.]

Oh, let me guess. Put together my name and what I just told you, and I'll bet the conclusion you're drawing right about now is 'I'm talking to a mad scientist'.

I can only imagine!

This place is basically a large, single story building. These rings–

[Here he gestures to one.]

–allow for transportation to various locales, which I assume to be for the purposes of recreation.

I admit, I don't quite understand it myself. And I was in the middle of a project too when I arrived.

[Such a project it was.]

Yourself?

[That's right, Princess, keep the information flowing.]

As long as there's nothing to be done about it, I would try to not worry about that kind of thing for now.

But … a sewage worker? That seems hardly fitting. You seem quite intelligent. And I can't imagine it to be an easy task with all that fur.

[identity profile] trust-roulette.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Big red exclamation mark time. Metaphorically, of course. There it is. There's what's going to pull this all together.]

…now that hardly makes sense at all.

It's sad, but humans can be cruel to their own. Just because someone doesn't fit within the normal–

[He'd sure know all about that, if not for entirely sympathetic reasons.]

–they strike out at them. You're no different from anyone else.

[identity profile] trust-roulette.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, so the intelligence is hereditary!

[He claps her on the shoulder, though it's a bit of an effort, given the immense difference in height.]

Keep a stiff upper lip. Someday, people will come to their senses and see you for what you really are—just another human being.

[identity profile] trust-roulette.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Just … one final word of caution. There are beings here who bear a certain physical resemblance to you. I don't believe them to be humans like you, however.

And they seem somewhat unbalanced, or perhaps delusional. Would you believe that I have been accused of actually being a mad scientist since I found myself here?

[He shrugs, an exaggerated motion. Everything about the man is exaggerated.]

I would try not to take what they have to say at face value, but that's just me.

[identity profile] trust-roulette.livejournal.com 2011-06-06 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I have.

[No, he hadn't. Not yet, anyway. He offers a sweeping bow to her.]

An immense pleasure meeting you, Ms. Evergreen. I hope that if you find yourself in any difficulty, you won't hesitate to request my assistance. But in the meanwhile, I really must return to exploring this place and perhaps finding us both a way back home.

[A subtle and untrue implication that they were from the same place, but not technically a lie either. With that, he proceeds to wander off in a random direction, and right before her eyes, hops through a ring and vanishes.]
