[For the residents of this special zone who have already been here a while, seeing another Sonic around shouldn't be all that surprising. But this Sonic ~~disregarding the fact that the account has been collecting dust for months~~ has just recently found himself in the place. And needless to say, he's lost.]

[Metaphorically and Literally.]

[After deciding he wasn't just gonna wait around in the central hub, he's now just running randomly through several of the warp rings, trying to find his way around the place, or rather, back to where he was before. Some places looked familiar, some didn't. It was all pretty weird.]

[Of course he's seen weirder situations in his life.]

[After a while he found himself back in the lobby. He took a quick survey of his surroundings and scratched his head.]

Sheesh, what is this place, some kinda crazy ring puzzle? Where am I, anyway?

[Help a hedgehog bro out?]

He shouldn't have been surprised.

The other hedgehog watched from near a large transportation ring, stealthy as usual as he blended into whatever shadows there may be. The only real tip-off that he wasaround was the flaring spines from his head, adorned with a bright red that was hard to miss, and the presence of his insane amounts of Chaos Energy.

Eventually, Shadow decided to reveal himself, however briefly, to at least answer this Sonic's question.]

You are clearly in a world between and accessible by many dimensions.

[Sonic wasn't expecting to hear a familiar voice, let alone Shadow's. His eyes widened slightly at the sight of the black hedgehog as he stepped out of the dark corners and smiled.]

Shadow? Hey, long time no see!

[It's a necessary greeting, in Sonic's eyes anyway. He takes in Shadow's words, but, while what he's saying doesn't seem all that farfetched considering previous endeavors of his, it's still pretty out there. But not really, he figured Shadow had no real reason to lie.]

Whoa, seriously? [He takes another look around.] Seems pretty crazy, how'd I end up in a place like this?

[Shadow opened his mouth, prepared to answer and instinctively reacting as if he knew the answer, but his lips promptly shut tight in retaliation with his heart. No, he didn't know the answer. He wished that he did.

He whisked his head to the side, spines swaying in the movement, natch.]

That is a question I still do not have the answer to.

[His eyes rolled to catch Sonic in his sight, however loosely.] ... I was meant to burn in the Earth's atmosphere. You saw that much. Instead, I ended up here, and I have yet to know why.

So, you dunno either, huh?

[Well, that doesn't help all that much. Sonic briefly puts a hand to his chin in thought. Maybe it's something like Blaze's universe? That seemed to be a stretch though.]

[When Shadow mentions what was meant to happen to him, though, he frowns but looks even more confused. That happened a long while ago for Sonic.]

You still dwellin' on that? That happened a long time ago, man.

Y...!

[Shadow cut himself off, biting down on his lip as the realization struck him once again. This Sonic was likely not from his timeline, no. Of course not. If the ARK happened a long time ago for this one, he was from his future.

He glanced away, his lids lowering, just as his voice does.]

... I see. So we are from different time periods. [His eyes shift back to him.] I'd fallen from the ARK mere weeks ago and ended up here.

[Sonic's eyes widen.]

Different time periods too? Now I've seen everything!

[He chuckles, it's true that he'd had experiences with time travel before but he hadn't met a Shadow from any time but his own yet.]

Tch... hardly.

[He turns his nose up, frowning softly. There is far more to be seen, surely. He takes that just a bit literally, really, knowing that until Sonic has seen some of the more traumatizing aspects of life... well. He hasn't seen everything yet.]

Do not be surprised if you find more versions of you around.

Well, duh. It was a joke, sheesh, get a sense of humor why dontcha?

[Smirk. Of course Sonic was joking, but it was always fun to mess with his rival.]

[But maybe he spoke too soon about the Shadow getting a sense of humor thing. I mean really, more versions of him? Come on. He hasn't had that problem since he first MET Shadow.]

Oh come on, now I KNOW you're just messin' with me. There's only one me!

[He gestures toward himself with his thumb before he starts with sarcastic jazz hands.] The whole "evil copy" thing only goes so far before it's just lame.

[He scoffs, watching him and his silly little hand movements as if he's behaving ridiculously. Shadow is not nearly as action-oriented with his speech, expressiveness remaining more of a Sonic thing, sans the subtlest of haughty and disgusted gestures.

His arms fold over his white tuft, his frown ever deeper.]

You should know by now that I am not the type to play around. Such a waste of time.

[It's not Sonic unless he's behaving ridiculously to Shadow at some point. He's just the excited, expressive type, unlike Shadow.]

[He throws his hands back behind his head, still smirking.]

Different time periods or not, you're still a huge stick in the mud, huh?

[He responds simply with a petulant toss of his head, a small 'pah!' escaping his lips as he does so.]

If I must be, it is plenty better than taking everything as a joke. That is dangerous.

[Like always, this one is reckless. He's going to wind up killing himself because of that one day...]

[Touchy, isn't he? Of course Sonic new that and was teasing Shadow.]

No one's talkin' about taking everything as a joke.

[But being Mr. srs bsns all the time just took the fun out of life. That's how Sonic saw it anyway.]

Yet that is what you do, all the time.

[Shadow glares over at him, as if challenging him to prove him wrong.]

[Usually challenges would be more than accepted, but Sonic simply shrugs his shoulders.]

Life's no fun if you take it too seriously all the time.

Fittingly, I do not live for fun, so your statement is null and void in my case.

[WOW SHADOW.

Chill out at some point.

Pull up a chair.

Have a pina colada or something.]

[Come on Shad, you just gotta kick back and relax, bro. ~~And get that stick out of your ass.~~]

Hm. Let's see. I have an entire planet to protect after having gone through a harrowing series of events.

After assessing that situation...

No, I do not.

[That stick is huge it ain't ever coming out of his ass.]

[Big stick. No matter what time period he's from, Shadow is still Shadow. Sonic is gonna just take some aversions to time paradoxes here and try not to mention anything about ~the future~.]

[Does that mean he's not gonna sass right back? Hell no.]

[Tch!] Think what you will, blue hedgehog. I have my own reasoning behind this. You would not understand.

[He huffs and flips away, turning to one of the rings. He'll probably head into the ARK and try to maintain some peace and quiet...]

[He was just kidding around with Shadow of course. As the black hedgehog turns away, for a moment he he keeps a straight face, his lip curling downward to one side before going back into a slight smile.]

Can't understand unless you open up a little.

[Sonic didn't expect Shadow to listen. He knew what he had only just recently went through. Just have to give him some time and space is all. In the meantime, he figures he'll do a little more exploration of this crazy ring puzzle! Picking a ring at random, he dashes through to wherever it would happen to take him.]

[ Shadow steps out into view, peering at this Sonic. He was apparently a new arrival, considering his obvious confusion as to his location. The black hedgehog understood that confusion all too well, remembering his own arrival in the nexus...

And beyond that, it was always a bit of a surprise seeing a Sonic, considering what had happened to the blue hedgehog in his own timeline. Or lack thereof. ]

You're in a world outside of time, or between worlds. A nexus of sorts.

[Once Shadow stepped into view, Sonic was surprised. Didn't he just see him leave through another one of those rings?]

Hey Shadow. [He gestures toward one of the rings.]

Uhh, wait a sec, didn't you just leave?

[ Shadow blinks before shaking his head. ]

No. Obviously my doppelganger did not tell you much about this place... There are multiples of many people. Many versions of you, of me, of everyone. They come and go, depending on how many worlds have been connected to this Nexus.
