Apart from the wounds inflicted by the Biolizard and his journey's wear and tear, he was basically untouched. Most importantly so, he was alive and well, and everything seemed...

What is the meaning of this? [He harshly whispered to himself, obviously to nothing or no one in particular.

Shadow glanced over to him, giving him a look that clearly displayed an air of holier-than-thou demeanor, undermining the other hedgehog's intelligence. What, Sonic, did you think he didn't get that by now?]

If Shadow got that implication from what Sonic said, Sonic was going to leave it at that for now. He could keep his theories to himself for the time being.

As for Shadow's actual question, Sonic could answer that without any problem. Shadow should know.]

[He is a most prestigious lifeform with immense abilities and should be treated as such, not treated like... this... from some bouncy, cheery adventurer.

Something about his attitude grated on his nerves, but although he wouldn't admit it, he... did have some respect for him.

He's just some ordinary hedgehog, and yet he can still match up to the Ultimate Lifeform.

That is something he will never forget.

All the same, however, his expression's wary, displaying a clear lack of full trust at this point in their, uh, 'relationship', whatever it was. He still isn't even sure.]

[Sonic decided long ago that Shadow should be treated better than how he deserved. Do unto others, that hadn't exactly applied for Sonic when it came to Shadow. Sure the black hedgehog made an art out of being so condescending, but Sonic had known that there was more to Shadow than he ever let on.]

Sonic is right in that there's more to him than he'd ever think to admit. The one girl he loved like a sister, a member of his family... and he lost her. What if he were to love again in any manner, only to lose them in the future?

[Whenever it comes to the way Sonic's mind works, it is exactly the same way that Sonic acts around Shadow, intentionally or not. He liked having Shadow chase after him and his logic. Could Shadow keep up with the speed of thought? That should've posed enough of a challenge.]
